Jeffrey Bryant Travers
Dr. Jeffrey Bryant Travers is a prominent figure at Wright State University, where he serves as Professor and Chair in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, as well as a Professor in the Department of Dermatology. His dual expertise as a pharmacologist and dermatologist allows him to bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical practice, offering a comprehensive approach to his work. Dr. Travers's research is primarily focused on the pharmacology of the lipid mediator Platelet-activating Factor (PAF), exploring its significant role in modulating inflammatory and immunosuppressive responses. His work in this area is well-supported by prestigious grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Merit Review program, underscoring the importance and impact of his research contributions. In addition to his work on PAF, Dr. Travers is actively engaged in collaborative research projects that investigate dermal fibroblast senescence and the abnormal responses of geriatric skin to UVB radiation. These studies aim to enhance the understanding of skin aging and develop potential therapeutic interventions for age-related skin conditions. Dr. Travers's clinical expertise is particularly focused on inflammatory skin diseases, where he applies his research findings to improve patient care. His commitment to translational research is exemplified by his founding of the Wright State Pharmacology Translational Unit (PTU), a facility dedicated to conducting cutting-edge research studies and clinical trials. Through his innovative research and clinical endeavors, Dr. Travers continues to make significant contributions to the fields of pharmacology and dermatology, advancing knowledge and improving treatment strategies for inflammatory and age-related skin conditions. His work not only enhances scientific understanding but also directly benefits patients, reflecting his dedication to both research excellence and clinical care.
