Dr. Andres F. Rengifo
Dr. Andres F. Rengifo is a Professor and Faculty Chair at the School of Criminal Justice, Rutgers University - Newark. He holds a Ph.D. from the City University of New York - Graduate Center, an M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a B.A. from Universidad de Los Andes. Dr. Rengifo specializes in Social Control, Communities & Crime, and Cross-cultural & Evaluation Research. His research focuses on how crime and crime control are influenced by social factors and institutions, with a particular emphasis on justice, social control, and punishment. He has contributed to policy changes both domestically and abroad, working on topics such as police stops, prisoner reentry, and drug treatment. Dr. Rengifo's work has been published in reputable journals and he is currently studying the operation of first-appearance/arraignment courts in the United States and Latin America.
