John DiIulio, Frederic Fox Leadership Professor of Politics, Religion and Civil Society at the University of Pennsylvania, is a political scientist who advocates for the middle ground between secular and religious extremes in America's public life. He believes that government can and should partner with religious organizations to solve social problems, as long as there is no proselytizing or government interference in religious affairs. DiIulio hopes his book, "Godly Republic: A Centrist Blueprint for America's Faith-Based Future," will help pull the church-state debate back to the political center and promote joint advocacy and action between secular and religious groups.
