John Dixon Hunt
Professor Emeritus John Dixon Hunt joined the Weitzman School of Design faculty in 1994 and chaired the Landscape Architecture department until 2000. With a doctorate from Bristol University and degrees from King's College, Cambridge, he has authored numerous books and articles on garden history and theory. His research encompasses landscape architectural theory, Venetian garden design, modernist garden design, and ekphrasis. Hunt has also served as Director of Studies in Landscape Architecture at Dumbarton Oaks and editor of journals like Word & Image and Studies in the History of Gardens and Designed Landscapes. His contributions have been recognized with the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters and an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Bristol.
