Dr. John D. Styrsky is a Professor of Biology at the University of Lynchburg. He holds a PhD in Entomology from Auburn University. His research focuses on mutualisms, specifically between invasive ants and honeydew-producing insects, and the exploitation of a mutualism between Pseudomyrmex ants and their host plant Acacia by orb-weaving spiders. Dr. Styrsky's work addresses ecological questions experimentally in both greenhouse and field settings. He is a member of the American Ornithological Society, Ecological Society of America, and Entomological Society of America.
