Dr. Anne Santiago
Dr. Anne Santiago is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and Global Affairs at the University of Portland. She is known for her "reckless generosity" in teaching and service and believes in empowering students to embrace learning and confront discomforting perspectives. Her research interests focus on making a positive difference in the world, particularly in land tenure practices, diamond industry monitoring, and government utilization of IT in Africa. Prior to joining UP, she worked on USAID grants related to rebuilding the National University of Rwanda and development professionals' use of technology for peaceful coexistence in African states. She is also a former Peace Corps volunteer in Mauritania and has conducted research in Ghana and Uganda.
