Dr. Andrew Holland
Dr. Andrew Holland is a Full Professor of Chemistry at Idaho State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Organometallic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral studies in Heterogeneous Catalysis also at Berkeley. His research focuses on Organometallic and Inorganic Chemistry, specifically: 1) Basic Late Metal Complexes in Catalysis, 2) Microwave Heating in Organometallic Chemistry, and 3) New Approaches to Inorganic Materials Synthesis. Dr. Holland requires students to have completed CHEM 111 and CHEM 112 and to be enrolled in CHEM 301 to participate in his research. Students gain experience in synthetic methods, mechanistic methods, air-sensitive techniques, and NMR. Dr. Holland's research prepares students for graduate school in chemistry and for careers in the petrochemical, specialty, and pharmaceutical chemical industries.
