Dr. Alejandra Marks is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at New Mexico State University. Her expertise lies in Medical Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, and Anthropology. Her research focuses on reproductive healthcare and social movements in Latin America, particularly examining how pill-based abortion is reshaping notions of reproductive care in the Americas. Dr. Marks has extensive fieldwork experience in Havana, Cuba, and Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, and has received several nationally competitive grants for her research on reproductive health. She currently teaches courses in Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Anthropological Theory, Medical Anthropology, and Fertility, Reproduction, and Birth.
