Florian Willomitzer

Dedicated to advancing knowledge in optical sciences, Florian Willomitzer is an Associate Professor at the Wyant College of Optical Sciences, The University of Arizona. With a robust academic foundation, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, in 2017. His doctoral research focused on exploring the boundaries of optical 3D sensing, particularly for applications in medical imaging and industrial inspection. Professor Willomitzer's current research interests are diverse and cutting-edge, encompassing novel methods for imaging hidden objects, high-resolution holographic displays, virtual reality eye-tracking, and high-precision metrology in low-cost handheld devices. His work is at the forefront of optical innovation, aiming to push the limits of what is possible in both theoretical and applied optics. In addition to his research, Florian has made significant contributions to the academic community through his involvement with Optica conferences. He has served as both Chair and Committee Member for several events, including the Optica Incubator on Imaging Through 100 Scattering Lengths. His leadership in these roles underscores his commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the field.
