Jeffrey Altenburg

Professor Jeffrey Altenburg is creating an impact through research in the field of law and criminal justice. Before joining Marquette Law School, Professor Altenburg served in various prosecutorial capacities within the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office. His roles included Community Prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney, and Assistant District Attorney, where he was involved in specialized units such as the Gun Enforcement Unit, Drug Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, and General Misdemeanor Unit. His diverse experience in these units provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the complexities and challenges within the criminal justice system. In 2007, Professor Altenburg's dedication and innovative approach to law enforcement were recognized when he was named the Assistant District Attorney of the Year in Wisconsin. This accolade was awarded for his significant contributions to Community Prosecution and his efforts in promoting Alternatives to Incarceration.
