

F. Melvin Hammond
Passionate about exploring solutions for understanding and interpreting religious texts, F. Melvin Hammond is a distinguished professor of religious studies at Brigham Young University. Born in Blackfoot, Idaho, Hammond's early life was marked by a deep commitment to his faith, which led him to serve a mission in Spain from 1954 to 1956. After returning from his mission, Hammond married Bonnie Sellers in 1956, and together they embarked on a life dedicated to education and service. He completed his studies at Brigham Young University, where he developed a strong foundation in religious studies. His career began with teaching seminary and institute classes in Utah and Colorado, where he inspired countless students with his passion for religious education. In 1966, Hammond moved to Rexburg, Idaho, to join the faculty at Ricks College. His tenure there was marked by a commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.
