Jing Zhao

Dr. Jing Zhao is devoted to exploring challenges in industrial engineering, with a particular focus on sustainable manufacturing systems. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Penn State Behrend, where she brings her extensive knowledge and innovative approach to the classroom and research community. Dr. Zhao earned her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering in 2022, showcasing her commitment to advancing the field through rigorous academic inquiry and practical application. Her educational journey began with a B.S. in Safety Engineering from Chongqing University of Science and Technology in China in 2016, followed by an M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017. This diverse educational background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of both safety and industrial engineering principles, which she integrates into her research and teaching. Dr. Zhao is currently affiliated with the Sustainable Manufacturing Systems Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her work there involves developing innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of manufacturing processes. Her research aims to address the pressing challenges of modern industrial systems, focusing on creating environmentally friendly and economically viable manufacturing practices. In addition to her research endeavors, Dr. Zhao is passionate about mentoring students and fostering a collaborative learning environment. She encourages her students to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving, preparing them to tackle the complex issues facing today's industrial engineers.
