Dr. Amir Hussain
Dr. Amir Hussain, Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University, is a renowned expert in Islamic studies. Born in Pakistan and raised in Canada, Hussain's interest in his faith sparked during his English Literature studies at the University of Toronto. He received both his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto's Centre for the Study of Religion and has taught at California State University. He was drawn to LMU for its size, strong liberal arts culture, and commitment to interfaith work. Hussain's courses cover topics such as "Religion in the Modern World" and "Islam in America." He aims to give students the tools to navigate events in their lives and encourages them to explore diverse religious traditions. Outside the classroom, he is actively involved in Campus Ministry and serves as a Faculty Advisor for the Women's Basketball team and the Muslim Student Association.
