Jeffery R. Roes
Professor advancing research in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Jeffery R. Roesler holds the esteemed position of Ernest Barenberg Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also recognized as an IL-American Concrete & Pavement Association Faculty Scholar. With a robust academic foundation, Professor Roesler earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the same institution, underscoring his deep-rooted connection and commitment to the university. Since joining the faculty in 2000, Professor Roesler has made significant contributions to transportation engineering. His research interests are diverse and include the mechanistic-empirical design of rigid pavements, fatigue and fracture of concrete materials, and the innovative use of fiber-reinforced concrete. His work is pivotal in advancing the understanding of material impacts on concrete slabs and enhancing the design and analysis of concrete pavements. In addition to his research, Professor Roesler is dedicated to education, teaching courses that cover a wide range of topics such as pavement and materials engineering, transportation engineering, and the geometric design of roadways. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges in civil engineering. Professor Roesler's contributions to the field are not only academic but also practical, as he collaborates with industry partners to implement research findings in real-world scenarios. His work continues to influence the development of more durable and efficient transportation infrastructures, making a lasting impact on both the academic community and the broader field of civil engineering.
